Competitions due in march!

Here are two upcoming competitions in which the deadlines are very tight. Our internal submission is due the end of this month (31st March). Please submit your photos to Miss Koh (email or give a cd to her). As we all know, photography is a form of art which is very much based on perception, so it's anyone's game to win! =)

1) Singapore Youth Photographer Award 2008
Subject: Choose at least 4 of the 8 categories- Total of 6 photos
Mode of submission: Mail
Website: http://www.sypa.org.sg/

2) International Photographer of the Year Competition
Subject: No restriction
Mode of submission: Either submit online or mail it to them + entry form (www.photowards.com/04/registration.asp)
Website: http://www.photoawards.com/04/contests/index.asp

Yup editing to enhance the quality of your pics should be fine (if needed), but not to the extent whereby the reality of it is twisted! xD

Lion's roar pics

Great pics! Do learn :-)

Cut out all the distractions, like this. Focus on the action.

Captures the moment... just too bad it blocks the 2nd guy, but u get the idea :-)

Multiple layers to the pic... interesting details reveal as ur eyes start peeling away layers

Nice use of panning. Maybe cut away the excess on the right? The action leads your eye to the left, maybe put something there? (the pic might look a bit empty)

shows interaction.

notice how the use of framing and rule of thirds emphasizes the emotion.

Think abt this: what is the effect of the space in the center? Would it be better with or without that space?

Photo Competition organised by ME!

Hi everyone,

This is of utmost importance. Pls take part in the photo competition organised by ME! This competition is entitled A Peacock's Tale.

The theme is Racial Harmony. So pls, pls rack your brains and snap any photos pertaining, even remotely, to Racial Harmony. Yup, also remember to write a short, one-liner caption to explain its connection with theme.

Prizes are attractive. A $500 cash prize for the top prize. (Btw, considering RIPC's ownage photography standards, we are bound to sweep the prizes should we participate. So, everyone, LET'S PARTICIPATE.)

Yup, Deadline is the end of March Holidays. So snap your photos and send them to ME!!!

Regards,

Vice Chair Gilbert
